Bell Bottom Box Office Day 2: Akshay Kumar starrer shows a slight dip; collects approx. Rs. 2.6 cr. :Bollywood Box Office

The Akshay Kumar action thriller Bellbottom which marked the resumption of operation of cinemas after an extended period has not been performing as expected. In fact, the midweek release opened on a slow note, despite the positive feedback and reviews it garnered. Expectations were that the business of the film would see an increase on its second day running; however, the collections of the film saw a slight drop.Bellbottom managed to draw in Rs. 2.60 cr. on its second day, a slight drop from Rs. 2.75 cr. that came in on its opening day taking the two day total to approx. Rs. 5.35 cr. As per reports the business of the film that has released across 1,620 screens and nearly 6,481 shows within the domestic market has seen minor increase in collections at major multiplex chains, but the overall numbers have shown a slight dip. Another factor for this low key box office performance is the lack of awareness of the film’s theatrical release. In fact, exhibitors claim that the general audiences’ unawareness about the film’s theatrical release has kept a major chunk of cinema going patrons away. If that wasn’t all, the Covid-19 induced restrictions and the fact that Bellbottom has not released in key markets like Maharashtra that usually contributes to 30% of conventional film’s business, has greatly affected its overall business.Currently, Bellbottom faces an uphill task at the box office, but with certain restrictions being lifted in states like Uttar Pradesh, where cinemas will be allowed to function on Sunday, chances are that the collections of the film will see and increase. This coupled with the fact that Saturday is Onam, with Sunday being Rakshabandan, it remains to be seen whether the festive occasions translate into footfalls and eventual collections. The biggest plus for Bell Bottom lies in the fact that it’s a good film, and hopefully, the word of mouth should translate into footfalls in the longer run. As of now, estimates state that Bellbottom could look at an opening week collection within the Rs. 13 cr. range.Bell Bottom collections across National Multiplex chainsDay 1PVR – Rs. 75 lakhsINOX – Rs. 45 lakhsCinepolis – Rs. 30 lakhsTotal – Rs 1.50 cr.Day 2PVR – Rs. 75 lakhsINOX – Rs. 50 lakhsCinepolis – Rs. 35 lakhsTotal – Rs 1.60 cr.
