After a rather slow start at the box-office, Akshay Kumar’s much awaited film, Bell Bottom has witnessed an upward swing in collections on Saturday. The biz has jumped by approx. 20 to 25% on the third day, as early estimates suggest day 3 collections in the range of Rs. 2.95 to 3.15 cr.The jump has primarily come at the multiplexes as the single screen figures have gone down by 30 to 35%. The jump is a rather positive sign, however, one expected a bigger jump in collections on Saturday given the fact that the first two day biz was on the lower side. The three day total of Bell Bottom stands at approximately Rs. 8.35 cr., and the movie is now poised at an extended weekend of Rs 12 cr.The Sunday figures is expected to jump further by around 10%, however, all eyes are now on Monday. It is essential for a film that has opened in this range to record a Monday that’s equal to or atleast 80% of the first day. The hope now is to see if Bell Bottom touches the respectable total of Rs. 45 cr. plus in the longer run, as the film does have potential to sustain in longer run due to no competition and a positive talk. And it is the crucial Monday test that will give a clear picture.The biggest plus for Bell Bottom lies in the fact that it’s a good film, and hopefully, the word of mouth should translate into footfalls in the longer run. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has also lifted the lockdown restrictions for Sunday. Cinema halls will now be allowed to operate on Sundays with the last show to be over by 10 pm given the restriction of a night curfew. That should also add to the footfalls and collections on Day 4. From Monday, August 23, cinemas in the state of Tamil Nadu have been given permission to reopen at 50% capacity.
