Four FC soldiers, Levies officer martyred in North Waziristan


At least four Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers and an official of Levies force embraced martyrdom when terrorists targeted their vehicle in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district on Saturday, the military said.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that the incident took place in Spinwam area of the tribal district along the Afghanistan border.
Havaldar Zahid, a 35-year-old resident of Charsadda, Havaldar Ishaq, 37-year-old r/o Kurram, Lance Naik Wali, 28-year-old r/o Khyber, Lance Naik Abdul Majeed, 28-year-old r/o Kurram and Sub Inspector Javed, 38-year-old r/o Spinwam were among the casualties.

“Clearance operation is in progress to eliminate any terrorist found in the area,” the statement further said.
On Tuesday, at least 10 terrorists including four commanders were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) carried out by the security forces in the South Waziristan district on reported presence of a militant hideout.
According to ISPR, the terrorists remained actively involved in planting IEDs, conducting fire raids and target killing of innocent civilians.

These terrorists were planning to conduct more acts of terrorism inside South Waziristan, it added.
Last month, at least seven soldiers of Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom during an intense exchange of fire with gunmen in the same tribal district bordering the Afghanistan border.
Five attackers were also killed in the operation carried out on the reported presence of armed men in the Asman Manza area, according to the ISPR.
