HDA, WASA employees stage protest


Employees of the Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) and workers of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) staged a protest on Wednesday against the failure to pay their salaries and pension since the last 11 months.
They also demanded regularisation of work charge and contract employees of the organisations. The demonstration, led by HDA Employees Union organizer Aijaz Hussain, Attar Khan Chang, Niaz Hussain Chandio, Abdul Qayoom Bhatti and others demanded immediate payment of their outstanding salaries and pensions.
They said the Water and Sanitation Agency’s serving and retired employees were not being paid their salaries and pensions since the last 11 months due to which their families were facing financial hardships. They said the Sindh government and HDA management were not serious about resolving the issues of the WASA employees.

Addressing the rally, HDA union leaders Abdul Qayoom Bhatti said the local government minister had a sent summary of a Rs70 million grant to the CM, but Syed Murad Ali Shah had not accorded approval to this day. The protesting employees said the provincial government was not releasing the Rs40 million monthly grant to the Water and Sanitation Agency. APP
