Ranveer Singh’s social comedy, Jayeshbhai Jordaar has taken a poor start at the box office. According to early estimates, the movie has collected in the range of Rs. 2.85 to 3.15 crores on its first day. The film had nothing going in its favour and if one were to pass a judgement from just the morning shows, even Rs. 2.50 crores would have been a challenge.There was a little growth, as expected towards the evening and night shows, which has got the film in the vicinity of Rs. 3 crores. But this growth was not enough to give it a respectable start. This opening has basically downed the curtains for Jayeshbhai Jordaar already as it would be yet another post pandemic release to end in the vicinity of Rs. 20 to 30 crores in the best case scenario.One would have hoped for word of mouth to come into picture and lift the collections through the weekend, but with Jayeshbhai Jordaar, the talk is also highly mixed. While the film genre caters to a multiplex audience, the look and feel of the film can’t attract the high end plex audience any longer. This is a film that probably didn’t even warrant the presence of someone like Ranveer Singh, but nonetheless, what’s done is done. We have our eyes now set on how the film performs in its opening weekend.While a jump is unlikely, but we would still hope for the film to show some miracle and surprise us through the weekend run.
