Probe finds ‘nexus’ between police and land grabbers

ISLAMABAD:

A fact-finding committee has found alleged nexus between the Bhara Kahu police and members of the land mafia who had attempted to grab the ancestral land of two sisters.
The members of the land mafia led by ringleader Naubahar had attempted to occupy the ancestral land of a widow and her sister, named Shabana and Sonia Zaman, in the Barakahu area. The incident occurred in September.
The inquiry committee, formed on the instruction of the prime minister, has unearthed the nexus between the Barakahu police and the land grabbers, official sources said.

According to the official sources, findings of the fact-finding committee have noted that the police deliberately incorporated weak sections against ringleader Naubahar and his accomplices after the two sisters lodged the complaint.
Inquiry Officer and Secretariat Circle Assistant Commissioner (AC) Anil Saeed said that Barakahu police had shown leniency toward the land grabbers. He said that the police did not reach the crime scene despite several calls from victims and failed to gather evidence.
The inquiry officer said that videos of the incident had been attached to the report. He said the probe has suggested incorporating an attempt to murder and other sections in the FIR.
