Turbat sit-in enters third day

The sit-in at Fida Shaheed Chowk located in Balochistan’s Turbat continued for the second day on Sunday as locals staged a protest with the body of slain youngster Rameez Khalil who was killed due to police brutality.
Apart from the family of deceased Rameez, a large number of citizens including Maulana Hidayatur-Rehman, All Parties Kech, All Parties Gwadar and Civil Society were present at the sit-in.
The family of Rameez has given an ultimatum till 7am on Monday (today) over the rejection of their demands and announced that they will bury the body at Shaheed Fida Chowk or move towards the Quetta Press Club if their demands are not met.
A complete shutter-down strike was observed in Turbat against the Buleda tragedy by closing all business centers, shops, markets and petrol pumps. The strike was called in Turbat on the appeal of All Parties Ketch against the killing of Rameez as a result of police violence.
Markets, hotels, tea houses, petrol pumps and other business activities remained closed. Baloch national leader Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman said the doors of education, health and employment have been closed for the oppressed Baloch by setting up check posts all across of Balochistan. “A soldier from Multan, Sahiwal, Lahore, Swat and Waziristan asks the locals where they are heading to,” he said.
“Our dignity is not safe, our youth are going missing and the rest of the people have been drugged. We must stand up fearlessly against abuse, oppression and cruelty.” He was speaking to the media after participating in the sit-in for two days.
Maulana Rehman added that dumb and speechless officers were hired to the administrative posts in Makran but their buttons were pressed by others. “They have become idols. They say and do what they are told to do. But the most incompetent people have been imposed by the rulers who can’t shave their heads on their own and nor can they even make their own moustaches.”
He added that they are robots and just used to their power. “They only rule over us,” he said, adding that Makran has been made a drug hub.
